the DSLR camera


f mode

iso – like the flash this setting is useful for taking photos in darker environments, however this setting increases the light intensity of the image. higher iso settings are used within darker surroundings

quality- used for altering the image size and quality using the number of recorded pixels.

finepix colour- used for creating a colour tone

·         f-standard -used for regukar photography with the colour and contrast set to standard

·         f-chrome contrast and colour set to high and is useful for taking vivid photos

·         f-b&w converts the image to black and white.

shooting menu

photometry- this is used to altering exposure when it cannot be naturally achieved, here are the various settings for this mode.

·         M multi pattern – automatically selects the best exposure based on the surroundings

·         S spot- centralises the exposure into a centeral spot

·         A average – averages the light intensity throughout the image.

single AF- useful for taking landscape photos.

·         centre – focuses on the centre of the screen

·         multi – focuses on high contrast areas when the shutter is half pressed

·         area- using the arrows the point of focus can be targeted and followed.

 sharpness – mostly used to emphasise outline and quality

·         hard- emphasises outlines, which is especially useful for buildings with rigid lines.

·         standard -best for regular photos, and is relevant to most normal situations.

·         soft- softens outlines which is useful for faces

flash- this setting allows the camera to emit a bright light before taking the photograph and can be set to automatically flash in dim surrounding or set to always flash or turn it off completely. the flash is used most often to illuminate dark surroundings

auto- default settings

natural light/ with flash-

macro- used to capture small subjects or something in greater detail, the macro mode focuses much closer to the lens and blurs out further objects.

 
scene position 1/2- contains different auto setting for deferent scenarios.

manual- this disables the automatic features such as the auto focus and enables the user to manually edit all the settings to create different effects and take faster photos.

increase monitor brightness- a feature to enable the photographer to see the subjects more clearly.
